The 15th Edition of the Salinas International Billfish Tournament took place Jan 21- 24, 2016. We have so far some of the feedback for the the first half of the tournament.
Here are the results for the first two days of the tournament. Most boats fishing close to the Isla de la Plata near Manta, Ecuador. 39 boats participated with teams from around the world. A total of 53 marlin between blue marlin and striped marlin were released. Bebella and Amiramar lead the scoreboard with 4 blue marlin releases each. An estimated 170 plus bites were experienced by 39 boats with over 200 raises of marlin in 2 days. Dorado were also caught. Boats on average had 3 to 5 bites and some over 10 raises of blue and striped marlin.
Folks Ecuador offers some of the best destinations in the world to fish for blue, black and striped marlin. Manta continues to offer good lodging, excellent fishing and easy travel to. Our reports from Galapagos will be out this coming week.
