2020 Marlin Releases: 653 | Bites: 1470 | Raises: 3197

2018/2019 Best Years For Marlin Since 2011 In The Galapagos Islands.

The incredible bite of striped marlin in the Galapagos went strong in most of 2018 and now 2019 has been even better. Boats are experiencing 10, 20, 30 and 70 plus raises of striped marlin 120 to 300 pounds. This is some of the best marlin fishing on the planet. Galapagos became known for its incredible marlin bite in the early 1990’s when Ecuadorian anglers from the Salinas Yacht Club would take their boats to the islands 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador.

Some would experience in excess of 150 bites of marlin a day! The mixing of 3 different currents, up-welling and plankton blooms attract sardines, squid, bonito, flying fish and tunas which make it prime hunting waters for apex predators like striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, bigeye tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi.

The Galapagos Islands are a very unique archipelago loaded with birds, sea lions, giant tortoises and vast marine life. To visit the Galapagos is an experience of a lifetime that gives you much more than just a fishing trip. Most guest choose to spend a few days touring the local sites, wildlife and local joints. The islands continue to be very safe for tourist with virtually no crime to tourism. Leave your worries behind and book a trip to fish some of the most marlin loaded waters in the world!

So far this year with an average of two boats fishing January, February and now one third of March 2019, there have been over to 2200 marlin raised. Add to this the incredible bottom fishing, the topwater tuna bite and the developing daytime sword fishing and your options are quite a few.

Striped Marlin On Topwater Spinning Gear?

If you want to experience the ultimate thrill of going toe to fin with one of the ocean’s most acrobatic and powerful billfish then you have to try your luck at topwater marlin fishing with plugs. Spinning gear loaded with 50 and 80 braided line are the norm.

Cast poppers as large a baby chickens and striped marlin will more than likely pounce on them. Seth Hartwick and his group of anglers tested the waters for their first experience at topwater marlin and had a blast.
