The Incredible marlin bite continues out of Ecuador with Salinas having its best season in over 3 years with some days in the double digits of bites from blue, striped and black marlin. Manta is also pretty solid with good raises of mixed striped and blue marlin.
Jan 17, 2018– Mary Lou raised 20 marlin between blues and striped and caught 2. Don Jose a single outboard 23 ft boat had 17 raises, 15 bite and released 4 blue marlin and 4 striped marlin. Joshua reported raising 12 striped marlin and releasing 4, plus raised 4 blue marlin and went 0/4 on the blues.
Jan 18, 2018– Mary Lou had 18 bites and caught 3 blue marlin and 1 striped marlin. Don Jose raised 14 total marlin, 7 blue marlin, and 4 bites and released 2 plus raised 6 striped marlin and released 3 and missed a large black marlin.
Jan 19, 2018– Mary Lou raised 10 and had 7 bites and caught 1 blue marlin. Alessio went 1/4 on blue marlin, 1/2 on black marlin and 0/3 on striped marlin.
Jan 19, 2018– Captain Calero out of Manta went 1/5 on striped marlin with Australians Dean Lukin, Alicia Gibbons and Paul Thomas on the Miura. Panga Don Teofilo went 1/2 on blue marlin and 1/3 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 3/8 on striped marlin. Panga Mazinger went 0/1 on blue marlin.
