2020 Marlin Releases: 653 | Bites: 1470 | Raises: 3197

Fellow Anglers,

Ideal water temperatures and rather mild conditions for October are not rare in the Galapagos and the striped marlin have shown up in full force. Manta, Ecuador has had some good striped marlin action and some blues but the wahoo and grouper bite has been very good. If you are looking for a last minute trip now is the time to book. Our 2019 Galapagos season has very few prime dates open so book today.

Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal Island:

October 5, 2018– You could not ask for better conditions in October with winds 12 knots and seas 4 feet or less. The fishing has been phenomenal to say the least on 0-30 Bank fishing onboard On The Hook with Captain Gus Hernandez. While out to get fishing reports the crew experienced raising 56 striped marlin and two blue marlin with water 75 F and lots of life on the bank. The crew was training a new mate and invited an unexperienced local politician. They managed to get 40 bites out of 56 raises and 19 releases on lures of striped marlin and went 1/2 on blue marlin.

October 6, 2018– On The Hook returned for more to 0-30 Bank. Again conditions were terrific with life on the bank in the form of birds, sardines and dolphins. Short handed with only two mates and onboard, Captain Gus focused only on raises so they trolled teasers with no hooks to practice teasing. They raised 39 striped marlin, 1 blue marlin estimated around 800# and a small black marlin around 300# that crashed and broke the bridge teaser.

Folks if you are still not convinced that Galapagos sports the best fishing on the planet without FADs then keep reading our reports or go to our website www.ecuagringo.com to see reports going back 10 years and more!
