The waters off the coast of Manta continue to deliver some nice blue marlin. Galapagos is having a fantastic year with tuna, grouper, wahoo and marlin.
Feb 13-15, 2018– The pangas reported slow fishing raising 0-3 marlin on average.
Feb 16, 2018– The bite picked up and panga Mario reported going 3/7 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Fausto had 1/3 with a nice blue marlin around 600# and went 0/1 on striped marlin. Panga Mazinger went 1/4 on blue marlin.
Feb 17, 2018– Miura captained by Andres Calero went 2/5 on blue marlin. They had a triple on at one time and lost all three fish but later landed a fish to be released and caught a 787# blue marlin on a 30# standup outfit by angler Carlos Valdez. The fish died after a 5 hour fight and was brought in after they tried to revive it with no success.
San Cristobal Island:
Feb 14, 2018– Mantaraya reported going 2/7 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin, 2/5 on big eye tunas around 50# and seeing lots of bait on Bank 0/30.
Feb 15, 2018– On The Hook reported fishing near Floreana Island catching groupers and bottom fish at the request of the angler then ending the day fishing for yellow fin and big eye tuna on Basurero Bank near Floreana Island.
Feb 16, 2018– Vertigo 2 with Pete Santini reported going 1/2 on striped marlin and having a nice black marlin come into the spread that would not eat around 600# on 0-30 Bank. Santini reported seeing several pods striped marlin slashing bait on the surface but would not come into the spread.
