Galapagos has been no secret this year with its fantastic tuna & wahoo bite. The marlin bite started really good and slowed in March but has seen some good action the last few days from striped marlin and blue marlin. Manta, Ecuador is typically up in the air in March and April but some boats have reported large female blue marlin haunting 35 to 50 miles offshore where the water has been clearer and a panga fishing near La Plata Island had some success.

April 19, 2018– On The Hook fishing with guest from Argentina had a phenomenal tuna bite going 23/42 on yellowfin tuna and 5/9 on wahoo fishing near Espanola Island. Jhonamar 2 went to Punta Pitt in search of marlin and fishing 8 miles North West they hook and released a nice blue about 500# and went 0/2 on striped marlin and ended the day with some nice tuna near the Barcasa Reef.
April 20, 2018– On The Hook fished Espanola Banks in the morning and when 1/4 on striped marlin and saw a few more trailers. By mid day they went closer to Espanola Island to fish for wahoo and finished the afternoon 3/7 on wahoo trolling the reefs. Jhonamar 2 had an awesome day fishing 0-30 Bank and raised a good mixed bag of marlin as water conditions were ecellent at 77 F and lots of bait. They went 1/2 on black marlin both estimated around 400#, 1/4 on striped marlin and saw a very large blue marlin tailing that checked out the spread a couple of times but would not eat.
April 18, 2018– Raquel reported a marlin bite fishing 20 miles out but was not sure what type. Panga Arturo went 1/1 on a blue marlin over 600# fishing South of Manta near La Plata Island.
April 19, 2018– Panga Arturo went 1/1 on blue marlin about 400 fishing near la Plata Island and 0/2 on a double of striped marlin. Panga Mazinger fishing 40 to 50 miles Northwest of Manta lost a blue estimated over 800# after an hour fight. Panga Don Teofilo fished the same area and raise another large blue estimated around 600# but would not eat.
April 20, 2018– Panga Arturo fished Northwest 45 miles and raised a striped marlin. Panga Don Teofilo went 1/2 on blue marlin.
