Fellow Anglers:

The story of Galapagos end of February and beginning of March has been terrific tuna fishing. The big eye tuna have been abundant. Lots of life in the form of sardines, bonita and bait in general. Birds and dolphins are seen feeding all over the place. We are waiting for the marlin to hopefully show up in numbers as conditions seem promising. There has been some activity for marlin on the Rosa Blanca Banks.

San Cristobal Island, Galapagos

Feb 27 and 28, 2017 Jhonamar 2 fishing with guests from Argentina had hot action from tuna fishing a buoy just North of San Cristobal Island. They had big eyes from 25 to 75# and nonstop rod bending action all day on light tackle. Vertigo 2 reported raising 2 striped marlin and releasing 1 on San Cristobal Bank plus lots of big eye tuna on Feb 27. On the Hook fish the Espanola Banks and reported seeing a total of 4 striped marlin tailing and raised 1 in the spread with no bites on Feb 27.

March 1-2, 2017– Vertigo 2 fished near Floreana Island and reported lost of nice big eye tuna up to 100#. Plenty of rod bending action and casting poppers to hungry tuna. There was lots of life, bait, dolphins and sea lions. One marlin jumping was seen but the tuna were the real target and anglers did not spend much time searching for billfish.
