The phenomenal yellowfin tuna bite that is common this time of the year continues strong in the Galapagos Islands. Wahoo and jacks are bitting pretty good for anglers who like light tackle action in the exotic and wild islands of the Galapagos plus some striped marlin action. Salinas, Ecuador has reported some action from marlin South. Manta, Ecuador is slow for marlin right now and Cabo Blanco, Peru continues to have striped marlin on Mancora Bank.

April 1, 2018– On The Hook had a fine day fishing with 4 anglers from Argentina. They had over 70 bites from yellowfin and big eye tuna and landed over 30 fish in the 25 to 80 pound range. They fished the area of Espanola. Jhonamar 2 reported going 8 out 15 on wahoo fishing Mc Gowen reef trolling and also caught a few tuna.

April 2, 2018– On The Hook returned to Espanola and had about 30 plus bite form tuna in the morning and decided to try some marlin fishing out on the banks near Espanola Island. They saw 4 tailing striped marlin had 2 bites and released 1 in about 2 hours of fishing. Patricia trolling 0-30 bank caught 8 nice yellowfin tuna over 60 pounds and went 2/5 on striped marlin.

Folks we have had lots of inquiries about fishing for swordfish in the Galapagos Islands. We plan to have a boat ready to deep drop with LP 1200 electric reels for the 2019 season. You will be able to fish daytime swordfish and large groupers and other bottom fish. Write to us for more information on special packages to deep drop in the day.
