Feb 23, 2018– Seth Hartwick, Samuel Dobbs, Benjamin Goede, Clayton Byerly and Daniel Watson began a 6 day adventure fishing for tuna on light tackle. They fished onboard On The Hook with Captain Gus Hernandez. On their first day they caught 30 plus yellowfin and a few big eye tuna from 30 to 65 pounds average and had an estimated 40 more bites fishing near Espanola. A few tuna fillets made for a wonderful diner at Rosita’s Bar & Grilled owned by the captain’s parents.
Feb 24, 2018– Again Hartwick’s aboard On The Hook group had incredible action catching about 50 tuna and having action from over 100 fish. The guest described it as “acres of surface feeding tuna! They fished the area of Espanola Island.
Patricia reported fishing for tuna and wahoo on Hancock Bank and went 13/24 tuna and 5/9 wahoo while trolling and hada black marlin crash and break off a Rapala diving lure used for wahoo.
Feb 25, 2018– Captain Gus took the group aboard On The Hook to fish McGowen reef where they caught around 40 tuna and even a wahoo. They had over 100 tuna bites and 6 wahoo bites on light tackle according to Captain Gus.
Feb 26, 2018– On The Hook travelled to 0-30 Bank in search of larger tuna and again found acres of tuna 30 to about 80 pounds. The captain reported catching over 50 tuna and action from nearly 100 fish. They quit a bit early to take a break and go see Santa Cruz Island. Captain Gus and Ecuagringo staff helped arrange last minute lodging and logistical changes to accommodate our guest’s interest in visiting another island.
Feb 27, 2018– On The Hook and the Hartwick group returned to 0-30 Bank. Captain Gus reported seeing a few tasing striped marlin. The tuna action was incredible and the group caught 30 plus tunas and had action from about 80 fish.
Feb 28, 2018– The last day for the Hartwick aboard On The Hook, the group ended catching over 30 tuna and having over 70 bites all on spinning tackle and surface plugs. This was an incredible trip and just a preview of what is possible to do in the Galapagos Islands.
