Marlin & Tuna Fishing Report March 23-26, 2018
The tuna and wahoo bite continues to do well in the Galapagos with anglers not disappointed so far this year. 0-30 Bank in Galapagos delivered some marlin action from blue and striped marlin. Salinas has showed some striped marlin action and Manta has been slow with marlin but the grouper and jacks have been bitting well. Cabo Blanco, Peru has seen some tuna action closer to shore with striped marlin action continuing on Mancora Bank.
San Cristobal Island:
March 23-26, 2018– On The Hook fishing with Team Aquafish from Argentina enjoyed multiple bites from topwater casting action of yellowfin tuna, wahoo and jacks every day. Captain Gus put the anglers on good amounts of fish everyday. Most tuna ranged 20 to 70 pounds and a nice one about 120 pounds was caught.
March 25, 2018– Jhonamar 2 with Captain Fernando Yepez fishing 0-30 Bank broke of a blue over 500 pounds and raised 2 striped marlin but could not capitalize on any fish.
Local fishermen have been reporting seen commonly the last few days seen tailing swordfish. Water has been a bit green for marlin to be productive.
March 24 and 25, 2018– Miura with Captain Andres Calero show a group of junior anglers how to catch some nice broomtail grouper, almaco jacks and snook jigging off the bottom.
March 24, 2018– Joshua reported raising 4 striped marlin and loosing a nice black marlin. They ended the day with 1/3 on striped marlin bites.
March 25, 2018– Cruz del Sur a 26 ft sport fishing center console reported going 2/6 on striped marlin on Mancora Bank and loosing a nice blue marlin about half a mile off the bank.
Folks we have a few open days left to fish April and May for the incredible Galapagos top water tuna and wahoo action.
