The striped marlin fishing in February has been solid.  Shots at a few blue marlin have been reported as well mixed in with the striped marlin by various boats fishing different areas.  San Cristobal Island is the place to be now!

Feb 7, 2023– Patricia Captained by Yury Gutierrez ran to fish with local group from Ecuador 0-30 Bank.  They reported raising 13 striped and 1 blue marlin, had 6 bites and released 3 stripeys.  Late in the day they had a blue about 600# come in the spread and a striped marlin as well.  The blue missed the right short after waking lure with bill and they released the striped marlin.

Feb 8, 2023– Peter Santini fished Floreana Island for bottom fish and reported plenty of nice groupers, jacks and wraths up to 25 pounds being caught of a peak called basurero.  They spent a few hours trolling for blue marlin and reported seeing a large one feed on a mahi but were not able to raise it into the spread.  Floreana is known for producing some big blue marlin as well.

Feb 9, 2023– Thanks to Peter Santini for his reports from the Vertigo 2 fishing Española Bank said they raised 17 big striped marlin with some pushing close to 300 pounds.  They had 13 bites and released 5.  They also caught 4 nice mahis in the 20 to 30 pound range.
