Fellow Anglers,
It has been quite a few months thanks to Covid19 that we have not had much in the way of fishing reports for the Galapagos Islands. It is our pleasure to inform our anglers that the Galapagos Islands are currently open to fish and that the fishing is spectacular for marlin, tuna and wahoo.
Captain Gus Hernandez and Captain Julio Rodriguez have joined up to go fishing for reports and Ecuagringo has partially footed the cost so we could bring our anglers more information.
October 7, 2020– Fishing skiff Ericka with Captains Julio Rodriguez and Gus Hernandez went to the banks of Española to fish for yellowfin tuna. They caught 17 tunas averaging 15 to 60 pounds while trolling Yozuri and Halco plugs.
They reported seeing dozens of striped marlin tailing on the surface an even had a couple chase tuna plugs. Lots of bait and birds on the bank.
October 8, 2020– Julio and Gus returned to the banks off Española Island. This time beside the tuna plugs they put marlin teaser in the water as we requested them too. In a full day of fishing Captain Gus reported raising 14 striped marlin on the one teaser they put out all day.
They did not try to catch striped marlin but rather see how many one teaser would raise. They caught 13 yellowfin tuna all averaging about 50 pounds.
Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands are currently open for fishing and tourism. There are certain Covid19 protocols that must be followed but nothing that should hinder you having a great time in a safe environment such as the Galapagos.
