Fellow Anglers,
The story of this week of June has been slower marlin bite in the Galapagos and cold water in Manta, Ecuador. Water conditions in the Galapagos are still quite good with plenty of life and water around 74 F. Seas have been rough which is normal for the start of the windy season.
Galapagos Islands
San Cristobal Island:
June 25, 2018– Jhonamar 2 fishing with guest from Brazil fished near Punta Pitt. They fished about 7 miles North West of Punta Pitt and raised a black marlin estimated around 600# that spit the hook after a few jumps. Seas were a bit rough so after about another hour of trolling they headed in to fish La Barcasa. They went 4/9 on wahoo and caught 5 yellowfin tuna. A nice pocket of water was reported to be 75/76 with a break that dropped to 73 F. They raised the black marlin on the warmer side.
June 28, 2018– On The Hook fished with Ted Harwood and his two sons on 0-30 Bank. Seas were rough and after a few hours with no bites they went in to fish for tuna on leeward side of San Cristobal Island. They caught a nice yellowfin tuna for dinner.
Ecuador
Manta:
June 26, 2018– Panga Don Teofilo reported going 1/2 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin. Panga Mazinger went 1/1 on striped marlin. Currents have been pushing North with water a bit colder than usual.
Folks the 2019 prime dates for the Galapagos are going fast. Don’t be left out!
