It is the middle of June, and considerably past the usual calm season in Galapagos and the striped marlin bite is still very active. Water is cooling down to 74/75 and will get colder with the weeks to come. There is still lots of bait and life on the banks and sea mounts surrounding San Cristobal and Santa Cruz islands. Manta, Ecuador has been slow to perform for June when compared to last years numbers.

June 15, 2018– We had the Ecuagringo team head out to Rosa Blanca on panga Erika with two rods to research the famous spot the Honey Hole on the Northeast side of Rosa Blanca’s third bank. In the past, the Honey Hole has been one of the most productive spots in the Galapagos Islands. Seas were choppy and windy but when they arrived they were met with boobies diving on various parts of the bank. It took about an 40 minutes after arriving on the Honey Hole and the action began with striped marlin coming on the lures. The day was action packed with 17 striped marlin raised before 1 PM around the Honey Hole. 10 bites and 4 releases. Keep in mind the team was out for a report and not as focused on catching the marlin. Hard to man a boat and fight fish with a crew of two. Before running in, the team decided to try on the Western bank and action was slower there but they managed to hook a blue marlin about 500# that spit the hook on a jump. They also caught a nice bigeye tuna around 65#.
Santa Cruz Island
June 17, 2018– Team Tesoro Galapagos with Captain Nicolas Schiess had a fun day on the water with 15 raises, 4 bites and 2 releases from striped marlin while fishing 0-30 Bank which sits between Santa Cruz and San Cristobal islands.

June 15, 2018– Chasin Tail with Captain Andres Calero went 1/1 on a nice blue marlin.
Folks there are still some days available last minute in June and July to fish the Galapagos Islands or Manta, Ecuador. Don’t let the best marlin bite in the world pass you up. Few places if any offer this many shots at fish 150 lbs and over each day!
