Fellow Anglers,
San Cristobal Island has continued to deliver some fantastic striped marlin fishing out year round for almost 3 consecutive years now. While most anglers like to book December to June when seas can be flat calm or calmest, the offseason and colder months of July to November have their rewards as well.
The colder water tends to attract larger striped marlin and you are often the only boat fishing anywhere. Days are relatively cooler and breezy if you don’y like heat. Thanks to Captain Gus Hernandez for keeping us updated lately of his findings onboard On The Hook. We have received reports from friendly artisanal fishermen seeing some tailing striped marlin on 0-30 Bank as well the last few days.
If the pattern continues then we could be looking at a very good September. In the last 20 years we have seen some incredible numbers striped marlin in October and November for those considering a last minute fishing trip to Galapagos in 2019.
If you are looking to fish the 2020 season now is the time to book. January to April are almost sold out for San Cristobal Island and the incredible striped marlin bite. If you want to fish for giant blue marlin out of Isabela with true chances at grander marlin then you need to book now as we have one open date left in April and one in May.

September 2, 2019- On The Hook fished Española Bank. Fishing with guest from South America, Captain Gus reported raising 17 striped marlin having 10 bites and releasing 6. Two fish released were estimated over 250#. Water was a cool 72 F and in the afternoon they raised a blue marlin around 450# that spit the hook only a few yards from the boat before they could grab the leader.
