Mar 16, 2017Fishing Reports

Fellow Anglers,

The last few days of fishing has brought all kinds of news from some of our destinations. We have a fresh new report from Esmeraldas which several anglers have been eager to know about. Tuna fishing in Galapagos continues to be world class. Manta has had plenty of marlin most days. Eguangrino marlin and tuna fishing Galapagos reports and more…

Ecuador:

San Cristobal-Galapagos Islands

The tuna fishing from March 12 to 15, 2017 onboard Vertigo 2, Jhonamar 2 and On the Hook has been phenomenal. Crews and anglers fished the buoys near Punta Pitt catching big eye tuna, dorado and even some wahoo while casting poppers to hungry fish. Multiple shot at nice big eye tuna daily with some fish over 80#. Five Fingers Rock just outside of port has been providing a consistent bite for tuna.

On the Hook did target marlin on Rosa Blanca Bank on March 14, 2017 and went 1/3 on striped marlin.

Esmeraldas

Truly one of the last untapped offshore fishing frontiers left in Ecuador. Fishing out of Club Casa Blanca from 20 to 35 miles out the fishing continues to be outstanding. Our contact in Esmeraldas fishing on his 23 ft boat reported fishing 30 miles out of Punta Galera March 14, 2017 he went 2/5 on blue marlin , 1/2 on striped marlin and 0/1 on sailfish. He mentioned that one blue was estimated around 650# that was released. The rest of the blues varied 200 to 400# on average. On March 15, 2017 the same boat began fishing 18 miles. After about 30 minutes from the lines in the water a black marlin around 450# was hooked and released. They went on to 1/3 blue marlin and 1/4 striped marlin and a couple o very nice dorado.

Manta

March 14-15, 2017- Fishing was 40 to 50 miles out and pangas reported 1 to 3 blue marlin raises per day. Fishing was a bit slower than previous days as currents shifted North for the past week in the area. Water was 82 closer to Manta and further South and it was 79 to the North. There was a lot of current mixing which should cause the fishing to spike any day now as typical of this area.

Peru

March 13-15, 2017- The rainy season has been very strong with heavy rains flooding the area. Lots of muddy water has pushed out clear water beyond 30 miles making fishing closer to shore difficult.
