Marlin & Tuna Fishing Report July 28 to August 6, 2017

Here is the latest news from several of Ecuagringo’s fishing destinations. After about a week of cold water and a slow bite in Manta the blue marlin bite has again exploded. The tuna bite in the Galapagos has been steady for the most part and the blue and black marlin bite in Esmeraldas has been really good!

Ecuador

Manta:

July 28 to August 3, 2017– A cold spell of water moved into Manta and settled to about 70 miles out. Most pangas reported some striped marlin action of 1 to 4 raises average per panga most days with very few blue marlin raised.

August 4, 2017– Panga Don Teofilo reported 2/3 on striped marlin and 1/1 on blue marlin. Panga Explorer went 2/4 on blue marlin and 0/2 on striped marlin.

August 5, 2017– Panga Don Teofilo raised 6 blue marlin going 3/5 on bites and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 1/4 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Leyenda caught a 760# blue marlin and went 0/3 on striped marlin.

August 6, 2017– Mahi Way went 1/1 on striped marlin and 0/3 on blue marlin. Panga El Cid went 1/4 on blue marlin and 0/1 on striped marlin. Panga Explorer went 2/6 on blue marlin including a fish over 600#.

Esmeraldas

July 29, 2017– Mago Azul made its way from Colombia to fish the waters out of Esmeraldas a few days. Fishing about 18 miles out they raised a nice black marlin about 500# which spit the hook and went 3/5 on blue marlin.

July 30, 2017– Mago Azul went 4/8 on blue marlin fishing 23 miles out and went 1/2 on a double of black marlin late afternoon.

Galapagos Islands

July 31, 2017– Robert Gartland and spouse fished onboard Patricia on San Luis Sea Mount and caught two big eye tunas.

August 6, 2017– Patricia fished MacGowen Reef and reported going 6/9 on big eye tuna 35 to 55#.
