Fellow Anglers,

We are excited about all the great fishing happening in several of our destinations. We are proud of our Manta-Ecuador blue marlin fishery which has not disappointed this year. Excellent blue marlin bite with most fish 150 to 300 lbs make it a perfect light tackle destination for those wanted to use 30# class tackle or cast flies. Galapagos has been providing very good and reliable tuna and wahoo action all summer long. July is not the best month for marlin in the Galapagos as water is too cold for blue and black marlin but the striped marlin are around. Waters off the coast of Salinas-Ecuador and Cabo Blanco-Peru have been quite cold the last week with water around Salinas 67/69 F and water around Cabo Blanco as chilly as 66 F.

For those who like estuary fishing for snook and corvina the bite has been very good in the estuaries of the Gulf of Guayaquil.

Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal Island:

July 21, 2017– Jhonamar 2- Fished with guest from Argentina that wanted to cast poppers at tuna. They headed to the Barge Reef. Bite was slow at first but picked up close to mid-day around Punta Pitt where birds and tuna were feeding. They manage to catch 8/15 big eye tuna 50 to 90 lbs on poppers and lost a fish near the boat estimated around 160# while trying to gaff it. The tuna were schooling and feeding on flying fish on the surface.

July 22, 2017– Jhonamar 2- Returned to same area and found more life with birds feeding and plenty of bonito and big eye tuna on the surface. They went 15/23 on bites from big eye tuna and several bonito. Most fish average 35 to 55lbs this day. A large wahoo also broke off a popper. Fresh sashimi was chilled and served to end a fantastic trip of tours and fishing for the 4 Argentine anglers.
