More hot action filled days on the water coming from Manta/Ecuador. The blue marlin and striped marlin bite continues to be very good. Here is our latest report covering what is happening in the best fishing destinations in Pacific South America.
Ecuador
Manta:
July 10, 2017– Mixed fishing for the few boats out. Atomic reported 1/1 on blue marlin and 1/1 on black marlin plus a large bull dolphin and saw about 6 more tailing striped marlin. Miura went 2/2 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Perico went 2/5 on blue marlin and 1/4 on striped marlin and lost a blue marlin estimated over 700#. Panga Henry went 1/1 on black marlin and 8 wahoo.
July 11, 2017– Miura fished 30 miles out and went 1/4 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Explorer went 1/5 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Mi Pana reported a black marlin 853# brought in to scales and lost a smaller black marlin fishing 20 miles out and not far from La Plata Island.
July 12, 2017– Miura released 1 striped marlin but had no luck with blues and caught 3 wahoo and two nice mahi-mahi. Chasin Tail went 1/5 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Don Teofilo went 2/8 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 3/3 on blue marlin.
July 13, 2017– A cooler body of water moved in from 35 miles out and fishing dropped a bit. San Thomas 0/1 on blue marlin and 0/1 on striped marlin. Panga Eduardo 0/2 on blue marlin. Panga Don Teofilo 1/2 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Mazinger 1/2 on blue marlin. Once currents push South again fishing will pick up.
Salinas
Cool water has kept the marlin fishing relatively slow with some striped marlin sighted. Some wahoo fishing has been reported past few days in the closer reefs.
Peru
Cabo Blanco
Colder water 68/69 F has made for the absence of marlin. Bonito and big eye tuna have been present near the coast as local skiffs are catching them. No action from marlin has been reported in the last few weeks.
