Fellow Anglers,

The fishing in Manta/Ecuador has continued to produce a very good blue marlin bite with lots of striped marlin showing up tailing in the last couple of weeks. Galapagos has seen plenty of action from tuna out of Santa Cruz Island the last few days and some nice wahoo over 60, 70 and even 80lbs have been caught! Water in Salinas/Ecuador have been a bit cold but a nice current of of 76/77 F provide some action 25 miles out for a few days. Water in Cabo Blanco/Peru has been 68/70 F which has been a bit cold for blue marlin.

Santa Cruz Island

The tuna fishing continues to be terrific on light tackle. Many anglers like to troll but those who try their luck with poppers and jigs are also well rewarded.

July 1, 2017– Patricia reported fishing Hancock Bank and catching 5 big eye tunas 35 to 50# and 4 wahoo with two estimated over 80# and lost several more.

July 2, 2017– Patricia fished again Hancock Bank and caught 7 big eye tuna averaging 20 to 30# and 5 nice wahoo from 40 to 60#.

July 3, 2017– Patricia tried their luck on Bank 0-30 and caught a very nice big eye tuna around 85# and lost another about the same size at the leader on 30# standup tackle. The bank was alive with boobies diving on flying fish and tuna feeding that moved quite fast. Near mid day they raised a nice striped that came in hot on a bridge teaser but would not eat anything. Around 2 PM they raised another striped marlin and lost it on a jump. Water was 71 F.
