Manta continues to be on fire! This port town on the central coast of Ecuador has been steadily producing the most consistent marlin bite in South America since the Galapagos Islands now for the last 7 years. Some weeks we have large female blue marlin migrating through and other weeks it’s a mix or mainly males. Our last minute special dates are all gone but keep on the look out for cancellation or specials.

Manta:

August 10, 2017 – fishing 35 to 45 Northwest of Manta 13 pangas reported raising 2 to 4 blue marlin per boat. Fish were a bit scarcer but they seemed to be mostly females coming through this day as most fish averaged 400 to 800# with three pangas mentioning loosing very big blue marlin. One boat from the Salinas Yatch Club while fast trolling their way to Manta lost a big blue near Isla de la Plata.

August 11, 2017– 30 miles west of Manta several sport fishers out reported: Lizi 1/2 on blue marlin, Perla Negra 1/2 on striped marlin, Don Juanito 0/2 on striped marlin and Atomic 1/1 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin

August 12, 2017– All hell broke loose again 40 miles Northwest with most boats reporting 5 to 15 raises of mainly blue and striped marlin. Atomic 3/8 on blue marlin. Panga Explorer went 7 for 15 on blue marlin. Panga Don Teofilo went 6 for 10 on blue marlin and 0/2 on striped marlin. Panga Julio went 2/5 on blue marlin. The rest of the panga fleet all reported 4 to 9 raises on average of mainly blue marlin and a few striped marlin.

August 13, 2017– Atomic went 2/4 on blue marlin. The pangas reported the fishing about 35 miles Northwest and most boats raised 3 to 6 marlin mixed blues and stripes.

August 14, 2017– Atomic went 1/3 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Tenorio went 2/4 on blue marlin. Panga Explorer went 1/2 on blue marlin, 1/1 on sailfish, 1/2 on striped marlin and 0/1 on a large black marlin estimated over 700#

August 15, 2017– fishing slowed a bit and the panga fleet reported 1 to 4 raises per boat average 30 miles out.

Galapagos Islands

Both San Cristobal and Santa Cruz island reported August 10 to 14 choppy sea conditions 5 to 6 foot seas but the local skiffs caught big eye tuna and wahoo in the order of 5 to 10 fish most days mixed. Water remains 71/73 F in most areas.
