Here is the latest marlin & tuna fishing action from the action from Ecuador, Galapagos & Peru:
Ecuador:
San Cristobal-Galapos Islands:
April 2, 2017– Richard Bajakian fished Rosa Blanca Bank. He caught several tuna onboard On The Hook. They targeted marlin in the morning but the bite was slow raising 2 striped marlin that did not feed so they focused on tuna.
April 3, 2017– On the Hook head to Punta Pitt where they saw lots of skipjack tuna and life but they raised no marlin.
April 4, 2017– The last day of fishing Richard wanted to target wahoo and do some bottom fishing so they headed to Espanola Island where went 4/10 on wahoo and caught a couple of nice grouper bottom fishing. Sea conditions were choppy.
April 8, 2017– On The Hook fished 0-30 Bank and went 1/3 on striped marlin and caught several big eye tuna around 40#.
April 10, 2017– On the Hook raised 3 striped marlin fishing 0-30 Bank. They headed in the afternoon to Santa Fe and hooked a blue estimated around 500# that jumped on the line and broke it.
Manta:
April 8, 2017– Several pangas fishing 35 miles Northwest of port reported 2 to 5 striped marlin raises and 1 or 2 blue marlin raised per panga.
April 9, 2017– Captain Andres Calero fishing as a guest on Black Pearl reported raising 5 striped marlin and a blue marlin.
April 10, 2017– The pandas fishing the area reported a good striped marlin bite 35 to 40 miles West of port. Most boats raised 3 to 8 striped marlin with a few blues mixed in between.
Esmeraldas:
April 8, 2017– Antipatico fishing Northwest of Punta Galera 35 to 40 miles went 2/4 on sailfish, 1/5 on striped marlin and 1/2 on blue marlin.
April 9, 2017– Antipatico with a charter from Texas fished the same area as the previous day and reported lots of tailing striped marlin. The went 5/12 on striped marlin and caught a very nice mahi-mahi mahi-mahi around 45#.
April 10, 2017– Antipatico fished the same area and again reported seeing dozens of tailing striped marlin. They went 4/9 on striped marlin and 1/2 on blue marlin and a sailfish.
Peru:
Cabo Blanco:
April 9, 2017– water temperatures have cooled a bit down to 75/75 F from over 80 F a week ago. The striped marlin bite turned on Mancora Bank 35 miles offshore. Our research panga went 4/8 striped marlin and caught a couple of nice big eye tuna around 35#. Several more striped marlin were reported tailing.
