Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal

Sea conditions have begun to change around the Southern Region of the Archipelago. Days have remained in May mostly sunny and the wind has picked up on some days. Waters have still held pretty warm averaging 76 to 77 and the striped marlin have been holding pretty good. The wahoo and tuna fishing has been productive.

May 7, 2014– on board Vertigo 2, Captain Fernando Yepez fished with guest Andrey Shirkov. The day was sunny and conditions were windy. Water was clear and 77 F. They fished from 9 AM to 11:45 AM as angler enjoyed fishing for wahoo and tuna later in the day. They raised 3 striped marlin, had 2 bites and released 2 stripeys in the 2 and 45 minutes fishing on Espanola Bank. They ran in near shore to fish for wahoo and tuna for the rest of the day.

May 8, 2014– Capt. Fernando Yepez on Vertigo 2 went to Espanola Bank with Andrey Shirkov again and reported raising 8 striped marlin, 3 bites and 1 release from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM before heading in for tuna and wahoo. The day was sunny, seas were choppy and water temperature was 76 F.

As we move in to the cooler months we can expect some good action of striped marlin if they hold to the banks. The wahoo and tuna will probably be good all year round as it is most years. Once the water drops below 75 F it is best to target blue marlin and black marlin again in December. We will continue to report on the action. We are now taking booking for the prime season of next December to May. Don’t be left out.

Don’t miss out your chance to fish some of the World’s finest marlin waters. Keep those reels screaming!
