January 2014– started with some promising marlin fishing and great conditions as the month went on. Water was colder than we hoped for the first half of January but nevertheless the striped marlin action on 88 Bank and some on 0-30 kept anglers entertained. Some days produced blue marlin (most fish under 500#).
The wahoo action was very good as expected but the dorados are making a better than expected migration. Most dorados averaged 20 to 45 lbs and boats were landing several each day. Water temperatures have warmed up in most areas 76 to 79 F making it for perfect black and blue marlin waters. We expect February to bring much more action and there will be more charters as the season progresses. We will keep you posted as reports come in from captains and crews.
