Galapagos Islands
San Cristobal
Cold water has surrounded the islands averaging 66/67 F in most places. The Big Fish headed out to Rosa Blanca and 88 Banks to try luck. The water temperature is quite low for most marlin species and even striped marlin tend to thin out when waters get below 69 F.
August 14, 2013– The Big Fish covered Rosa Blanca Bank without much luck. They headed closer to shore after a fishing most of the day in calm blue waters and not finding anything. A big eye of 25# and a 35# wahoo were caught closer to shore.
August 15, 2013– Again the Big Fish headed out to 88 Bank. During the day the seas were mostly calm and tailing striped marlin were seen but they were not hungry. The crew could not entice any to bite and a total of 6 marlin were seen tailing.
Folks we are waiting for warmer water to come through and the bites should pick up.
