The blue marlin bite usually starts to pick up this time of the year in Manta and it begins to slow down in Galapagos. Galapagos is still experiencing a generous number of striped marlin and double digit raises on Bank 88. Waters is cooling off around the Galapagos islands averaging 73 but satellites show a warm pocket approaching again. Manta is holding warm water about 30 to 45 miles North and the fishing has been decent.

San Cristobal

May 12, 2013– Captain Julio Rodriguez on-board the Vertigo 2 raised 10 striped marlin and a blue fishing 88 Bank. They released 2 striped marlin and a blue around 250#.

May 13, 2013– Captain Yepez on-baord Big Fish raised 19 striped marlin had 13 bites and released 8 stripeys.

Water conditions were reported calm on both days with 73.5 F being the average

Manta

The blue marlin capital of the Eastern Pacific rarely seems to disappoint. Several boats reported action North of Manta on May 11 and 12, 2013 the past weekend. A small new boat named Pirata Azul went 2 for 4 on blue marlin. 2 other boats saw action with one boat catching 2 blues and another loosing 1 nice blue next to the boat. Seas were about 3 footers and very nice conditions fishing almost 40 miles North of Manta.
