The tuna bite and wahoo in Galapagos has been hot almost everyday now for all of 2018. After a slow 2 weeks in Salinas the marlin bite has come alive again with lots of striped marlin tailing and mahi mahi biting. Peru had it’s annual Punta Sal International Tournament near Cabo Blanco with striped marlin caught. Manta is having a slow marlin bite but fantastic grouper and jack bottom fishing. Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal Island:

March 16, 2018– Jhonamar 2 and On The Hook both boats fishing with Moore group caught Tuna trolling Mc Gowen Reef. It was a fun filled day catching yellowfin tuna, big eye tuna and even a few wahoo in the mix.

March 17, 2018– Moore group continued to fish on two boats. On The Hook had a fast paced day catching 6/10 wahoo and several tunas on the troll. Jhonamar 2 had a bit slower day catching a few tuna on the troll in a different area.

March 18, 2018– Moore group had a fund day onboard Jhonamar 2 and On The Hook catching multiple wahoo and tunas trolling with light tackle. Tuna and wahoo steaks made for a tasty dinner prepared in one of the local restaurants. Nicholas Scheiss reported some striped marlin action from his boat Tesoro Galapagos fishing 0-30 Bank.

Ecuador

Salinas:

March 17, 2018– Boats from the Salinas Yacht Club reported some seeing 6, 15 and up to 36 tailing striped marlin. Lots of striped marlin in the area but not very hungry. Most boats averaged 1 to 4 bites from striped marlin. Lots of nice mahi-mahi biting and most boats caught several. Most of the action was Soutwest of Salinas.

March 18, 2018– Again boats reporting to the Salinas Yacht Club had caught 1 to 3 striped marlin with most boats seeing 5 to ups to 18 striped marlin tailing in the day. The mahi mahi bite continued and one boat caught a swordfish. The fishing was Southwest of Salinas.

Manta:

March 17 & 18, 2018- Captain Andres Calero has been focused fishing for jacks and broomtail grouper onboard the Miura. The bite has been nonstop the last two days catching several grouper and jacks each day.

Peru

Punta Sal (between Mancora and Cabo Blanco):

March 17, 2018– The Punta Sal International Fishing Tournament continued with boats from Peru and Ecuador fishing Mancora Bank. Most boats reported multiple raises and bites from striped marlin. Several marlin tailing in the area were seen.
