Ecuador & Galapagos Marlin & Tuna Fishing Report

September 30 – October 9, 2017

Here is all the latest on some of our top fishing destinations in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Manta had some spotty marlin fishing the first week of October but it picked up October 7. Big eye tuna action has been reported in Galapagos.

Ecuador:

Manta:

Sept 30 to October 4, 2017, Ecuagringo hosted Mr. Bill Pino from Squid Nation and Kim Hemanowski. The fishing with Captain Andres Calero out of Manta was unfortunately very slow and in four and half days of fishing they raised 1 blue marlin and a few striped marlin plus saw a few tailing striped marlin. Bill and Kim fished Sept 30, Oct 1, 3 and 4, 2017. Not many pangas were out fishing as they were focused on catching Humboldt squid.

October 7, 2017– Miura captained by Andres Calero fished West of Manta in 3 foot seas with 75/76 F. They raised 6 striped marlin had had 4 bites and released 1 and went 0/1 on blue marlin and 0/1 on black marlin. Titago went 1/1 on blue marlin and 1/1 on black marlin and 0/1 on striped marlin. Panga Don Antonio went 1/3 on striped marlin and 1/1 on blue marlin. Panga Henry went 2/5 on striped marlin and Panga Eduardo went 0/2 on striped marlin.

October 8, 2017– Panga Mazinger went 1/2 on blue marlin and 0/3 on striped marlin. Panga Don Teofilo went 2/3 on striped marlin. Panga Explorer went 1/4 on striped marlin

October 9, 2017– Miura went 0/3 on striped marlin bites. Sea Horse 0/1 on blue marlin and Blue Fin went 0/2 on striped marlin. Panga Explorer went 0/2 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 1/1 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin.

Galapagos Isands:

San Cristobal Island

October 7, 2017– On The Hook fished with a Ukranian guest and his wife popping for tunas with spinning rods. They had several bites and went 1/4 on big eye tunas landing one estimated around 60#. By the end of October our fleet will start fishing more and more so stay tuned for reports.

Daytime swordfishing to come soon in Manta and Galapagos!

Ecuagringo is teaming up with Lindgren Pittman equipment and under the guide and advise of Tim Picket from LP will we will be equipping our boats in Manta with LP 1200 electric reels first and by 2018 our boats in Galapagos. The potential for large swordfish is prevalent in Ecuador and Galapagos.
