Galapagos Islands Marlin & Tuna Fishing Report

The Galapagos marlin season is under swing and January 2020 has started with a bang. Lots of striped marlin, mahi mahi and decent wahoo fishing being reported. Brandon Powell’s family group is out fishing for striped marlin today as we write this report. The group already had a fun day of fishing with double digit raises of striped marlin and 5 mahi mahi. Their next day was good with wahoo, tuna and jacks.
January 5, 2020– Mantaraya with Captain Jonathan Valiente took Brandon Powell’s family of 6 out for striped marlin on 0-30 Bank. The bank is a 23 nautical mile run from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, San Cristobal Island.
The day was filled with nonstop action as striped marlin were at times swimming all around the boat. 55 marlin tailing on the surface were counted throughout the day. 29 were raised, 12 bites and 7 releases. 5 mahi mahi made for a tasty treat.
January 6, 2020– Mantaraya and Powell group went wahoo fishing. They caught 6 wahoo, several small yellowfin tuna, jacks and more fish to keep the day fun. Fishing started slow but picked up as day went on. It was a fun day for the whole family.
