Fellow Anglers,

While the Galapagos waters begin to cool down the striped marlin and tuna bites continue to be impressive with most days delivering double digit shots of either marlin or tuna. Nowhere else do we know of such an incredible marlin bite going on in June! Manta has been producing some blue and striped marlin but the bite has been under par for what is customary in June. Captains are reporting lots of bait in Manta and general water conditions are very good so the bite can turn on spectacular any moment.

Galapagos Islands

San Cristobal Island:

June 13, 2018– We sent panga Erika with mates to fish and see what was biting on the famous Rosa Blanca Banks. We know 0-30 Bank is loaded with marlin at the moment but no one has been over to the East side of San Cristobal Island to see what is happening lately. Our team fishing with only two lines in the water was in for a good surprise. Sea conditions were choppy and there was wind. Nevertheless after trolling the bank for less than 30 minutes they welcomed a double of striped marlin and released them both. They went on to raise 23 striped marlin and had 16 bites releasing 9 striped marlin and went 1/1 on a blue marlin around 400#. Keep in mind they used a hand held gps and no fish finder. Not a bad day for getting a fishing report out of a panga!

June 14, 2018– Several local boats fishing to supply tuna to the restaurants in San Cristobal caught 30 to 40 yellowfin tuna each with bait on McGowen Reef. The fish ranged 30 to 80# in weight and the crews mentioned that there were plenty of fish feeding on the surface.

Manta:

June 14, 2018– Chasin Tail with Captain Andres Calero went 1/1 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin. Bait and water conditions are very nice and should lead to bite turning on soon.
