The fishing in Manta has been on fire!! If you want to experience perhaps the best natural blue marlin fishery in the world then you need to put Manta-Ecuador on your map. The last few days some boats have experienced double digit raises. The Galapagos has not done too bad either with somewhat of a striped marlin bite with the waters having cooled off a bit.

May 30, 2017– Atomic had a good day fishing 35 miles out. Raising 6 blue marlin and releasing 4 out of 5 bites. Panga Don Teofilo had 3/8 blue marlin. Panga Panita went 2/5 on blue marlin. Panga Mazinger went 5/10 on blue marlin a 1/1 on black marlin. Panga Explorer went 1/2 on blue marlin.

May 31, 2017– Atomic went 2/5 on blue marlin. Panga Eclipse went 3/10 on blue marlin. Panga Panita raised 11 blue marlin and caught 3.

June 1, 2017– Panga Mazinger went 3/4 on blue marlin. Panga Jose went 4/7 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Toribio had an incredible day with 14 raises and 8 blue marlin caught. Panga Tony went 2/9 on blue marlin. Panga Eclipse went 1/5 on blue marlin.

June 2, 2017– Chola raised 10 blue marlin and caught 3 out of 10 bites. Amalita raised 9 and caught 1 and lost 8 blue marlin. Panga Panita raised 15 blue marlin and caught 8! Panga Eduardo went 4/7. Panga Don Teofilo went 8/12 on blue marlin. Panga Jose caught 7 blue marlin and lost 6 more.

Galapagos Islands:

San Cristobal

Water has cooled to average 74/75 in most areas around San Cristobal Island. The striped marlin bite has improved with the cooler water but there still have been some blue and black marlin around. A nice swordfish was caught by a local skiff this week that weighed out at 322#.

May 30, 2017– On the Hook fished Rosa Blanca Banks and raised 7 striped marlin and released 2. Late afternoon they caught a big eye tuna around 90# and lost a blue marlin estimated around 600#.

May 31, 2017– On the Hook fished Rosa Blanca Banks again and hooked into a big eye tuna estimated over 300# that pulled the hook 7 feet from the leader after and almost 2 hour fight. They raised 4 striped marlin and released 1. Jhonamar 2 fished 0-30 Bank and raised 6 striped marlin and released 2.

June 1, 2017– Jhonamar 2 fished 0-30 Bank again and raised 3 striped marlin and released 1. A black marlin estimated over 600# tried to eat the teaser several times before fading away and did not eat a bait. Two nice big eye tunas around 35# would make for a great dinner.
