Ecuador:

Manta

After a fantastic week of blue marlin fishing producing for some double digit raises from the end of May until June 2, the fish just quit June 3 and 4 with a mixed current but the bite came back June 5.

June 3, 2017– Captain Andres Calero fishing with Luis Palud and his group from Argentina onboard Golfito had a mystery bite, went 0/0 on marlin seeing a tailing striped marlin and catching a nice mahi mahi. Seas were choppy. Amalita went 0/3, Chasin Tail 0/1 and Titiago 0/1. Chola went 0/0 and Raquel 0/1. Panga Don Teofilo went 1/2. Panga Explorer went 0/0. Fishing conditions seemed quite good but bite was slow for most of the fleet.

June 4, 2017– Captain Calero again fished on Golfito but had no action from marlin with group from Argentina. Chasin Tail went 1/1 on striped marlin and Amalita 1/1 on blue marlin. Current was pushing North.

June 5, 2017– Captain Calero fished the last day with group from Argentina on Golfito. Conditions were very good with calm seas and they raised 4 blue marlin, had 4 bites and released 1 blue around 250#. Golfito was the only sport fisher out for the day. Panga Elena went 1/3 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Mi Pana went 0/6 on blue marlin and caught a big eye tuna 268#.

Galapagos Islands:

San Cristobal Island

June 3, 2017– Jhonamar 2 fished McGowen Reef for tuna and managed to catch 7 big eye tuna with poppers and several skipjack. Trying their luck on the troll they caught 4 nice wahoo between 30 and 55#.

June 4, 2017– Jhonamar 2 with waters cooling to 74F the crew tried fishing Rosa Blanca Banks. They found good tuna action catching several big eye tuna in the morning. Close to mid day they raised a double of striped marlin and released one. In the afternoon they raised 4 more striped marlin and released 3 for a days total of 4/6.
