Fishing continues to be good in most destinations out of Ecuador for the past week. The Galapagos Islands have experienced some unusually rough seas for December but the tuna, wahoo & grouper bite has excelled.
Ecuador
Manta:
December 1, 2017– Our good friend and angler JR Martin chartered a 29 ft sportfisher accompanied by a mothership to provide fuel and supplies and fished a bank almost 95 miles West of Manta. Arriving close to mid day our good friend reported immediate action as soon as teasers were in the water. They raised 8 striped marlin on the Northside of the bank within 2 hours of fishing and released 5. By 3:40 pm they hooked into an estimated 900 blue marlin which they fought until night before loosing it just feet from the leader. Sea conditions were a bit choppy making it hard to maneuver at night.
December 2, 2017– JR had lines in the water by 6:10 am and was hooked up by 6:30 on a double of striped marlin. As the day played out they went 2/5 on blue marlin and 3/9 on striped marlin. By 1 pm it was time to start heading back for port.
Salinas
December 2, 2017– Mary Lou reported with guest from Argentina going 0/5 on blue marlin and 1/3 on striped marlin plus seeing 5 more tailing striped marlin.
