Ecuador & Galapagos Marlin & Tuna Fishing Report

September 12-16, 2017

The coast off the country of Ecuador has been on fire for marlin this past week. Salinas sporting good numbers of striped marlin even with cool Humboldt Current waters and Manta continuing on its year round fantastic blue marlin fishing. There have been some highlights this week with some big fish reported in the Manta area. In the Galapagos Islands our boats are finishing their scheduled maintenance during the roughest part of the year and there will be more reports to come starting in mid October. Ecuador:

Manta

September 12, 2017– Water conditions were perfect with Current pushing South and clear water. Lots of flying fish were seen 25 to 35 miles West of Manta. Visiting boat Luna Llena reported seeing over 20 tailing striped marlin throughout the day most of which were not hungry. The Luna Llena went 2/5 on striped marlin an 1/3 on blue marlin with the largest fish estimated around 700# that spit the hook only feet away from the mate grabbing the leader. Panga Don Teofilo went 2/6 on blue marlin and 1/3 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 1/3 on blue marlin and 3/4 on striped marlin.

September 13, 2017– Luna Llena fished the same area as the previos day and had nice surprise releasing a black marlin about 400# and went 1/3 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Mazinger went 2/5 on blue marlin and 1/3 on striped marlin. Panga Tenorio went 3/6 on striped marlin and 1/1 on black marlin.

September 14, 2017– Fast action day of fishing with Luna Llena going 4/8 on blue marlin of which they released 2 fish over 500#. Solito went 2/5 on blue marlin and 1/3 on striped marlin. Panga Don Teofilo went 6/11 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin. Panga Eduardo went 2/5 on blue marlin. Panga Explorer went 4/6 on blue marlin and 1/1 on striped marlin.

September 15, 2017– Luna Llena on its last day reported 2/4 on blue marlin and 1/2 on striped marlin. Panga Henry went 2/5 on blue marlin. Panga Mazinger went 1/3 on blue marlin and 2/3 on striped marlin. Panga Explorer had 1/2 blue marlin and a sailfish.

September 16, 2017– Fishing was a bit slower with Florimar going 1/3 on striped marlin and Isabela 0/2 on blue marlin.

Salinas

September 13, 2017– Joshua fished 20 miles out West and reported seeing quite a few tailing striped marlin. They went 3/7 on striped marlin.

September 14, 2017– Joshua returned to the same area and went 2/5 on striped marlin and 1/1 on blue marlin and reported seeing quite a few more tailers.

September 16, 2017– Joshua went 4/8 on striped marlin out of 12 raises and 0/1 on blue marlin. They reported seeing more than 25 tailing striped marlin in the day.
