October 25-29, 2017
Fellow Anglers,
The past few days have been a mixture of research, fishing and trying new things out of Manta, Ecuador. Our Galapagos crews have wrapped up boat maintenance and we are now ready to start the 2017/2018 marlin season which has very high expectations.
Possible sword fishery in the very near future out of Manta/Ecuador
The Ecuagringo Fishing Team was recently in Manta teaching our crews how to use our new Lindgren Pittman 1200 electric reels for deep dropping swordfish. While the focus was more on tackle, baits etc we did manage to spend a practice day at sea to discover there are plenty of squid to eat our swordfish baits in 1300 to 2100 feet of water. Our practice day consisted of getting crews familiar with proven tactics, rigs and techniques to get the baits down without tangles in excess of 2000 feet of water. Ecuador, Peru and Chile have registered some of the largest swordfish brought to the scales. We believe that it is just a matter of time before our crews dial in and find the best swordfish spots out of Manta. If you are interested in targeting daytime swords out of Ecuador don’t hesitate to contact us for more information. We should have more catch stats in the next few months.

October 25, 2017– Miura and the Ecuagringo Fishing Team spent de day 17 miles out fishing 1300 to 2100 feet of water testing equipment for swordfish. We did not have any known swordfish bites but did managed to get several baits torn up by squid which is a good sign. Find the squid and you will probably find the swordfish.
