We are now well into August and we are still having a productive striped marlin action. Waters remain 71 to 73 F around most of the banks and the sardines are here for billfish to feed on. Last few days have been quite nice even-though we are in the windy season. Plenty of large striped marlin are being caught 200 to 300 pound range.

August 21, 2019– Captain Gus Hernandez headed to Española Bank with local anglers from Ecuador. The conditions were beautiful and fish were active. On The Hook raised 22 striped marlin, had 14 bites and released 9 fish between 2 anglers. A nice yellowfin tuna around 55# made for great sushi. The marlin were caught on combined 30# and 50# pound gear.
August 22, 2019– Captain Gus again fished Española Bank onboard On The Hook. Conditions were also beautiful with winds about 12 knots and water temperature at 73 F. Captain Gus reported raising 13 striped marlin plus a blue marlin about 500#. They had 9 bites and released 5 striped marlin and 1 blue marlin.
