Fishing has been good to say the least especially the last few days in Manta/Ecuador. Good numbers of blue and striped marlin reported. We will continue to make an effort to inform on the best marlin fishing destinations in South America. ECUADOR

Manta

Sept 13, 2016 – Two skiffs fishing 25 miles South West of Manta reported 3/7 on blue marlin one boat and the other went 3/6 with 2 blues and a striped marlin caught. Sea conditions were choppy but lots of flying fish seen.

Sept 14, 2016 – 4 skiffs fished 25 to 30 miles South West of Manta. Each reported 2 to 4 blue and striped marlin caught with tally going 8/20 on striped marlin between and 3/12 on blue marlin between al four boats. Lost of action and bait. 32 marlin raised between striped and blue marlin between 4 boats!

Sept 15, 2016 – Atomic fished 25 miles West of Manta and caught a blue and a striped marlin out 4 bites, three stripes and a blue. A skiff reported a blue and a striped marlin caught with 2 more blues and a striped marlin lost.

Sept 16, 2016 – Telita made the 100 mile run to a weather buoy North of Manta. They raised 9 blue marlin had 8 bites and caught 3. This buoy is famous for producing double digit raises of blue marlin for boats who venture that far.

Sept 17, 2016 – Golfito went 1/3 out of striped marlin out West of Manta.

Salinas

Sept 16, 2016 – Amalita fishing 30 -50 miles out found colder water and went 0/3 on striped marlin fishing water 72F. Candy lost a blue marlin into the fight and water was warmer within 25 miles.

Sept 17, 2016 – Don Agustin went 1/2 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin. Saray went 1/3 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin. Yo went 1/2 on striped marlin and 0/1 on blue marlin. Fishing was about 20 miles out.

Sept 18, 2016 – Don Juanito lost a very large blue at leader. Don Agustin went 2/5 on striped marlin. Saray lost a striped marlin and saw several more tailing.

San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands

Sept 15, 2016 – Johnamar 2 fishing near Espanola looking for striped marlin found cold 69/70 F water with green color. They did report bait and bird life. 4 striped marlin were raised with no releases and 2 nice big eyes around 50# were caught and made for great sashimi.

Sept 16, 2016 – Johnamar 2 making the run to 88 Bank 68 miles from port they found better water 73 F and a bank with sardines and life. It took about an hour before the action began but it went well all day long with 17 striped marlin raised, 9 bites and 4 releases.
