Bigeye Tuna Strong, agile and can grow up to 400 pounds bigeye tuna are found throughout the Galapagos Islands year round. Peak months for larger bigeye are January to April. Yellowfin Tuna Yellowfin tuna are the most common of the larger tuna species in the Galapagos Islands. Most fish average 15 to 100 pounds and can be caught both out of San Cristobal and Isabela Island. They are found year round with topwater fishing peaking January to June. Wahoo Wahoo are widespread and caught nearshore, on the reefs, shallow banks and all around the Galapagos Islands. San Cristobal Island is host to some of the best wahoo fishing year round in the Galapagos Islands. Wahoo are found all months of the year with January to June peaking.
