Ready For A Billfishing Experience Like None Other?

The Galapagos Islands Are Unlike Any Other Billfish Destination

The Galapagos have striped marlin unlike anywhere on the planet. On a regular day you can expect multiple fish in the spread at the same time.  Most fish average 120 to 220 pounds with some pushing 250 to 300 pounds.  The various banks and seamounts found around Santa Cruz and San Cristobal Island offer plenty of habitat for bait such as sardines and squid to concentrate.  In return predators such as striped marlin, blue marlin, black marlin, yellowfin tuna and bigeye tuna are attracted to feed on the banks.

The Archipelago de Colon as known in Spanish was explored by Charles Darwin. It’s intriguing and endemic wildlife inspired Darwin in part to base his masterpiece “Origin of the Species” from his scientific work done with local finches.  Darwin studied the different shapes of beaks that these small birds have. Besides Darwin, other explorers, famous captains and infamous pirates staked a claim of some sorts in the Galapagos.

Called the Enchanted Islands by some, the humidity and low cloud cover cause the islands to often disappear and reappear in plain sight.  The islands are rich in history spanning from pirates, penal colonies, castaways and colonist that all left their footprints still found today.
