MANTA

The port city of Manta is one of Pacific South America's best kept secrets for marlin. With very few sports boats fishing and only one private marina the sportfishing pressure has been almost non existent. However the reports and the fishing in the recent years has been phenomenal. With year round catches of blue, black and striped marlin reported this a true destination that should not be taken lightly. Manta has 4 star hotels, beaches, clubs and many restaurants.

For 10 years it hosted a US occupied air force base which left behind few bars and businesses still found today. Manta is Northwest of Guayaquil and the drives are just over 3 hours. Boat rides to fishing grounds are roughly 1 hour.

This fantastic fishery averages 3 to 10 marlin raises on a good day and mixed bags of stripes, blues and blacks all caught the same day are not uncommon. Big dorado and record size tuna are also found here. If you are looking for a comfortable stay and good shots at different marlin species then Manta is your best choice.
